A friend of mine has been talking about Proverbs lately. I think it's really funny when someone mentions a topic and then I start running into mentions of it everywhere. I downloaded a series of podcasts from iTunes by Andy Stanley (son of Charles Stanley) and when I listened to it as I drove to my New Year's Day destination I discovered that it was based in Proverbs !
I've been thinking about it since then and wanted to write down this idea before I forget it. Andy pointed out four different types of people that are talked about in Proverbs. The wise (that's the guy that listens to God), the naive (the unlearned or simple), the fool (the one who doesn't care) and the mocker (the one who criticizes). He said that there is hope for the middle two because they CAN change but hardly any for the latter because they are usually too entrenched to change. When I next study Proverbs I am going to watch for those four types of people to see what is said about them but that was just a little bit of background information that I wanted to remember.
